Durham Philharmonic present popular Masterworks
The Durham Philharmonic Choir will present two famous works for choir, soloists and orchestra on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 3pm at College Park Church, 1164 King St. East, Oshawa L1H 1H9. The program is titled ‘From Paris to Venice’ and will feature French composer Charles Gounod’s ‘Mass of St. Cecilia’ and Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria’ along with soloists Marion Samuel-Stevens, Catharin Carew, Cian Horrobin and Michael Robert-Broder.
“The Mass of St. Cecilia, named after the patron saint of music, is a richly textured and melodic work which will contrast nicely with the straight-forward energy and vitality of the ever-popular Gloria. The soloists for the occasion were specifically chosen as they, for the most part, have all performed the solo roles from these pieces in the past” says the groups director Robert Phillips.
