Pax Christi Chorale is thrilled to present the Toronto premiere of We are Phoenix, a new commission created by composer Timothy Takach. The composer describes this as “a new, innovative piece of music for SATB choir and string quartet symbolizing the strength of the human spirit. The piece draws a powerful comparison between the resilience of humankind and the constant renewal of the Earth. We Are Phoenix combines the words of many different poets, demonstrating our shared ability to recover from hardship and come back even stronger. We are Phoenix will be complemented by a selection of thematically relevant works by Canadian composers.
