Within our city there are gems that highlight the connection between what we are and what we can become. Since 1976 the Serenata Singers mixed-voice choir of retirees has been one of those gems. Senior singers – voices united in song – inspiring generations to follow.
In 2023-24, this 55-voice ensemble gather under the direction of accomplished choral director, Michael Morgan, who will share his talents and expertise to guide us toward our annual spring concerts in May. During the year other performances are at seniors’ residences and our season crescendos with 2 spring concerts. Sing Me A Love Song, will celebrate the contributions of many composers and librettists who knew music as a universal language but also acknowledged love as a universal theme. The many aspects of love will be showcased in selections such as Danny Boy, and Loch Lomond. Show favourites like Can You Feel the Love Tonight, You Raise Me Up and other novelty pieces like Sh-boom will also be featured. Colourful titles and sad melancholy are interspersed with farewells, and thoughtful reflections making it a grand night/afternoon for singing. Relive the moods of Love! Join us! Your ticket awaits!
