The Magic of Latin American Music
For their final concert of this season, the Etobicoke Centennial Choir (ECC) travels south to pay homage to Latin America’s vast and rich contributions to music. An evening of colourful harmonies and toe-tapping rhythms will feature some of the most iconic and best-loved melodies of Latin America. Delight in exciting choral arrangements of tender lullabies, jaunty folk songs and the excitement of carnivals and dances!
With music originating in Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, Bolivia, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Argentina, our selections feature such seminal composers as Antônio Carlos Jobim, Francisco Repilado, Moisés Simon and Astor Piazzola.
Selections will feature our lead vocalists: Mélissa Danis (Soprano), Hermione Goss (Soprano), Lauren Halasz (Alto), Amanda Weatherall (Alto), Pete Oundjian (Tenor), Adam Wicks (Tenor), David Finneran (Bass) and Mikhail Shemet (Baritone)
The choir will be joined by the following ensemble: Anton Apostolov (Guitar), Connor Crone (Double Bass), Serghei Grosu (Violin), Chendy Leon (Drums), Saba Marzabadi (Violin), Raul Piñeda (Percussion) and Carl Steinhauser (Piano).
