In Spring, the birds sing in the morning and again in the evening. So, knowing a good idea when we hear it, our Spring concert presents both morning music and evening song.
Toronto Classical Singers will perform two choral masterworks with Toronto Classical Players and soloists Kendra Dyck, soprano, Catharin Carew, mezzo soprano, Ross Mortimer, tenor and Alan Macdonald, baritone. Jurgen Petrenko conducts.
With its lightness of touch and its passion for the human voice, Schubert’s Mass in C shows Mozart’s influence on its composer. Mozart’s very dramatic Vespers includes the Laudate Dominum, surely one of the composer’s most beloved melodies, for soprano and chorus. A sense of opera infuses both pieces.
It won’t be just the birds singing this April afternoon. Welcome Spring with this uplifting concert featuring two composers who had a lot to say, and who wanted to say it through song.
