On Saturday December 21, 7:30 pm at the River Run Centre, 35 Woolwich Street in Downtown Guelph, the Guelph Chamber Choir is pleased to welcome their new artistic director Charlene Pauls conducting her first Messiah with them. She and the choir are accompanied by Alison MacNeill, the choir’s pianist and all will once again be joined by “Musica Viva” an orchestra of period instruments, as well as a selection of acclaimed Canadian soloists to perform this timeless work. The soloists are: Bethany Horst, Soprano; Jennifer Enns-Modolo, Alto; Lawrence Wiliford, Tenor; and Bradley Christensen, Bass.
This annual concert has continued to be a major success drawing near sold-out audiences every year. Since 1999, concertmaster Joe Lanza has contracted many of the finest Canadian instrumentalists who play on instruments replicating those of the Baroque era. Performing together with players knowledgeable in historically-informed performance practices over the past 20 years has been a very exciting journey for the members of the Guelph Chamber Choir and our audiences. It is a true Christmas tradition for many local families.
