Join Pax Christi Chorale as we journey into a deeper understanding of Ludwig van Beethoven’s writing process and inner struggle, especially around the time when his hearing started to fade. Described as “profound and unforgettable”, American composer Jake Runestad’s modern-day masterpiece, A Silence Haunts Me takes us into Beethoven’s thoughts in his later years as he struggled with hearing loss. Paired with A Silence Haunts Me is Beethoven’s masterwork Mass in C Major and Hallelujah (from Christ on the Mount of Olives).
Featuring Ellen McAteer (soprano), Timothy Wong (countertenor), Nicholas Nicolaidis (tenor), Dion Mazerolle (baritone), Joshua Tamayo (piano) and the Toronto Concert Orchestra, all under the direction of Elaine Choi.
