Writing during a sea voyage from the United States to England in 1942, Benjamin Britten reimagined medieval and Renaissance texts to bring a new choral composition for Christmas to a war-torn world. The choir will perform Britten’s beautiful A Ceremony of Carols accompanied by Juno Award–winning harpist Erica Goodman.
The celebration will continue with Poulenc’s Quatre Motets pour le temps de Noël and Louis Applebaum’s Carols of French Canada. Winter’s Peak, a new piece by author Sarah Henstra and artistic director Henry Renglich, will be premièred. Delight in traditional carols and a sing-along to some of your favourite carols!
