Cantates de Bach à la chandelle
174 Rue Wilbrod Street
On December 4, 2021, the Cantata Singers of Ottawa will live up to our name, performing three exceptional cantatas:
- Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland (BWV 62);
- Herz und Mund und That und Leben (BWV 147); and
- Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (BWV 140).
Each of these cantatas welcomes the Messiah at Christmas time. Wachet auf (BWV 140) contains the well-known melody Sleepers Wake, and Herz und Mund (BWV 147) features the immediately recognizable Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.
We will be joined for these marvelous, fun, and lively pieces by the orchestra of the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal and by four magnificent soloists:
- Stephanie Manias, soprano
- Marie-Andrée Mathieu, alto
- Michiel Schrey, tenor
- Clayton Kennedy, bass
All CSO concert venues are following the guidance of Ottawa Public Health regarding vaccination, masking, and physical distancing. There will be additional seating available, to allow for safely spreading out. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and appropriate identification will be required.
Tickets are limited, and available at www.cantatasingersottawa.ca. No tickets are available at the door.
