ROLE DESCRIPTION: Apprentice Conductor
The Oakville Choir for Children and Youth, one of Canada’s leading choral music education programs for young singers ages 4 to 24, is searching for a conductor to join our artistic team. The apprentice conductor position is designed to give an emerging conductor paid experience in working with children and youth in our OC choral programs under the direction of Artistic Director, Dr. Sarah Morrison.
The apprentice conductor would have hands on experience working with the Raise Her Voice choir both in rehearsals and performances. This program is designed to focus on the interests and areas of strength of the apprentice conductor in order to continue their artistic development.
Ideal candidates for this position will hold music and/or education degrees with a keen interest in vocal pedagogy and choral conducting. Teacher educators who wish to receive more experience in working hands on with a high-level community choral ensemble are encouraged to apply for this one-year position.
