Notes: Rehearsals are held at Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church, 10066 Yonge St. Richmond Hill on Tuesday evenings from 7-9:30 September to June. The choir presents three independent concerts in November, February & May & an additional concert in June, where they are guest performers with the Richmond Hill Philharmonic Orchestra at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. Singers Wanted! – Achill Choral Society
Open Rehearsals on Wednesday, January 8, 15 and 22, 2020 – 7:00 to 9:30 p.m.
We’re currently recruiting new members! If you love to sing, and want to grow musically as a chorister, please come to our Open Rehearsals. You will be warmly welcomed by our choir and inspired by our Artistic Director, Shawn Grenke. Everyone will be loaned copies of our spring concert music.
Achill Choral Society is a 70-member mixed voice community choir based in Caledon, just east of Orangeville. We have been performing in the community for over 37 years and our repertoire ranges from classical works to contemporary and traditional pieces. We perform two concert series a year with performances in Orangeville, Bolton or Alliston.
Our choir is flourishing under the expert leadership of our artistic director, Shawn Grenke, who also works with several of Canada’s leading professional choirs, including as co-conductor/accompanist to the Amadeus Choir and accompanist to the Elmer Iseler Singers.
The choir maintains an excellent standard of performance, attracting guest soloists and accompanists of the highest calibre.

Young Singers (Ajax) is looking to add singers
Young Singers is looking for children who are interested in experiencing choral music through the love of singing. Since 1992, over 1000 children have enjoyed representing the Durham Region as choral ambassadors. We strive to educate and develop young leaders to achieve “Excellence in Life through Excellence in Music”! Weekly classes run from September to June and registrations are still being accepted for the fall term.
YoungEST Singers (ages 4 to 6) provide an introductory music education program which is play-based, and incorporates creative singing and fun listening games, movement activities and age-appropriate repertoire that fosters a love for music.
TREBLE NOTES (ages 8 to 14) are taught basic choral skills with a focus on beginner concepts of vocal production, breathing, diction, expression and initial sight-singing skills. Children develop confidence, commitment and the focus required for choral performances.
DIRECTOR’S CHOIR (ages 10-17) is an auditioned choir which requires singers who can demonstrate good music reading and ear training skills a strong commitment to complete weekly theory homework and attend all rehearsals. This is a performing and touring choir.
RANDOM NOTES (ages 14-20) is an auditioned teenage ensemble for experience singers who are committed to take on more challenging and diverse repertoire. This is a performing and touring choir.

Chorus York is a group of 20-25 singers under the direction of Stéphane Potvin. The choir presents four concert programs per year in a variety of musical genres. This season’s concerts are scheduled for November 30 & December 1st, February 14 and May 2 & 3, with a final concert in June in collaboration with the Richmond Hill Philharmonic Orchestra.

SATB Singers Wanted, Oshawa/Durham Region
RESOUND is Durham’s newest auditioned SATB contemporary classical choir for both younger and older adults. Singing 3 concerts per year, good reading skills are required. Excellence in performance is a mandate of the choir as is community outreach. Our outreach component includes premiering 4-part arrangements of youth compositions, combining with other choirs to sing a large choral work, and working with front line community organizations to raise awareness via our concerts. Rehearsals are held at 135 Wilson Rd. S., Oshawa on Sunday evenings.
This year’s repertoire includes Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium, Mozart’s Requiem, some Holst, Elgar, Brahms. We are recording this year and attending a competition.

The choir of St. Andrew’s United Church, Brantford, is seeking a bass section lead. Duties include Thursday evening rehearsals (7:30-9:00), and one Sunday morning service. Additional services occur on Good Friday and Christmas Eve.
The contract runs year-round, but duties are limited in the summer months

Resident Choral Mentor / Lead Opportunity
The Canadian Men’s Chorus seeks a BASS voice to join our chamber performing ensemble for the role of Resident Choral Mentor beginning September 1, 2019.
The Chorus rehearses Wednesday evenings 7-10 pm with occasional added Saturday calls. This season we present three self-produced concerts in addition to hired engagements, and community outreach concerts. CMC will also perform at the Podium national conference in May 2020 in Montreal.
Remuneration is per call and is in line with established Toronto rates.
MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS
At least one degree in vocal or choral music
Ability to lead and mentor singers, both technically and socially
Comfortable coaching both individuals and sectionals
Ability and skills to lead rehearsal warm-ups
OPTIONAL – Conducting skills. Should this candidate also have conducting interests, podium time may be made available.
The CMC is a low-voice chamber ensemble rooted in contemporary choral repertoire, also performing a wide range of music from varied genres.

Open rehearsal for prospective singers
Entering its 52nd season, Etobicoke Centennial Choir (ECC) enriches the cultural life of the community with diverse, high-calibre vocal music performances. We welcome singers from all walks of life, backgrounds, identities and experiences. We believe that choral music fosters joy and a shared camaraderie when individuals join voices together in song.
ECC offers choristers the opportunity to work with professional musicians to improve their musical knowledge and vocal skills. We perform a diverse repertoire, ranging from classical masterpieces to contemporary compositions, folk and popular music.
Etobicoke Centennial Choir welcomes new singers in all sections for the 2019-2020 season. Interested singers are invited to attend an OPEN REHEARSAL on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 7:30-10:00 pm at Humber Valley United Church, 76 Anglesey Blvd., Etobicoke. Participants can sing with the choir during rehearsal, meet the conductor and choristers and find out what the choir offers. Some prior choral experience and ability to read music is recommended.
