3:30 pm -- 5:30 pm
Event Category:

The Shevchenko Ensemble’s May 26th concert – Reflections of Life in Part I – will include songs and music from around the world, songs of joy, humour, rejoicing, love and longing. And the unique, and amazing, domra virtuoso, Ira Erokhina, will also appear as soloist.

In Part II of the concert, the Ensemble will present a true Canadian gem, A Feast of Thunder, a work beautiful in its simplicity and eloquent in its poetry, created by composer Morris Surdin and poet-playwright George Ryga. This musical oratorio is built on the cycle of life – Birth, Youth, Adulthood and Death – and stands alone in its grandeur and lasting relevance. Tom Allen, popular CBC radio personality, will appear as Narrator in A Feast of Thunder along with the Shevchenko Choir, Toronto Mandolin Orchestra and outstanding vocal soloists.
