Cantabile is thrilled to welcome world-renowned countertenor and conductor Daniel Taylor to Kingston. Mr. Taylor will conduct Cantabile’s four adult and teen choirs in repertoire especially from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, offering his expertise as one of North America’s finest and most acclaimed interpreters of early music.
Also featured in this concert is Daniel’s professional ensemble The Theatre of Early Music, sought-after interpreters of these magnificent yet neglected choral repertoire spanning four centuries. Their appearances include stunning a cappella programs, with practices and aesthetics of former ages informing thought-provoking, passionate and committed reconstructions of music for historical events, and major works from the oratorio tradition. With Daniel Taylor, the Choir and Orchestra of the TEM are visitors to the most renowned concert halls and festivals and are building an exciting discography in partnership with Sony Classical Masterworks.
Daniel Taylor is one of the most sought-after interpreters of early music in the world. His extraordinary series of solo recordings for SONY include The Voice of Bach and Come Again Sweet Love. He has also made several award-winning choral recordings with The Theatre of Early Music, which he founded and conducts: Four Thousand Winter, The Tree of Life and The Path to Paradise.
Daniel has sung on the world’s greatest stages including the Metropolitan, San Francisco, Rome Operas. He appears on over 120 recordings with noted performers such as Dame Emma Kirkby & Suzie Leblanc, plus conductors John Eliot Gardiner, Harry Christophers, Frieder Bernius & Helmut Rilling.
